AUKUS

The AUKUS nuclear-powered submarine pathway will deliver long-term strategic benefits for Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States.

It strengthens the combined industrial capacity of the 3 partners, with increased cooperation making trilateral supply chains more robust and resilient.

Announced in September 2021, Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States formed a new security partnership to promote a free and open Indo-Pacific which is secure and stable.

The first major initiative of AUKUS was the historic trilateral decision to support Australia acquiring conventionally-armed, nuclear-powered submarines (SSNs).
